An excavation in the old cemetery of Ibiza looks for 70 victims of the Franco regime
The technical director of the excavation, Almudena García, explains that after the first search campaign for victims of Franco's violence in the cemetery, in which they found two individuals and the casing of a rifle appeared in the north corner of the grave of ground 1, they have opened probes right below. "We have just started, we are finding ordinary burials and some cleaning bags for cemetery use from the 80s, but already in this superficial cleaning we have found two rifle casings that correspond to the time," says García. He also reports that as they are extrajudicial killings there is no information except for the testimonies, in the civil registry the deaths of certain people who know they were buried there are registered: «We found a grave of two that, according to the registry, there are few and therefore we have a hypothesis of who these people could be».
